Gravity Check!

Up until now, I haven't really given my upcoming skydiving experience much thought. It was just something I was going to do, and one of those "must-do's" to have a complete life! (Like that Tim McGraw song says!) Now that it is 2 days away I'm getting knots in my stomach and my hands sweat when I think about it. I just hope I don't clutch the plane door like a kitten trying to squrim his way out of a bath or scream like a little girl (no offense intended to little girls).

I know it is in my blood somewhere, as both Dad and Tom were Airborne in the army. And I know it is one of the safer crazy activities I might try, as the place where I am jumping has had over 25,000 jumps and not once has gravity won (knock on wood and say a little prayer). My boss, an ex-Green Beret, says the odds of dying jumping out of a plane is about 1 in 100,000, so I'm better off doing it than driving. Still, a little part of me wonders what I was thinking!

Anyhoo, T minus 43 hours and counting.

Bias,

You have a greater pair than I to attempt this feat. I'm sure your readers will understand if your cold feet get the better of you at the plane door... still I hope you are able to go through with it. (My hands are sweating thinking about it too! :) ). My recommendation is that you close your eyes, grab the sides of the door feeling the cool breeze from the great beyond cascading about your forehead while imagine yourself on a diving board in the caribean with dozens of nubile co-eds cheering you on from pool side and then take the plunge.

As we've learned from the case of our adolescent fear of asking gorgeous teen girls out (cheers to you Landie if you've found this site :) ), a couple minutes of fear clearly outweighs a lifetime of regret.

Good luck bro!

I would never attempt to sky dive!! That would be one fearful feat I have no desire of overcoming. But we are different. This is something you want to do and being a bit afraid is not a bad thing. It is natural to fear anything that is a new adventure, overcoming that fear is what makes it so exciting. So...Good luck to you. (If you do happen to grip to the sides of the plane for dear life and cry like a kitten, don't worry about it...it wasn't that important.)

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. - Ambrose Redmoon
